The Istana Batu Royal Museum

Short Brief

The Royal Museum is also known as the Stone Palace. At that time, it was called Istana Batu because the structure of this building was made of cement concrete, while the two nearby palaces, namely Istana Balai Besar and Istana Jahar were made of wood. Built in 1939 during the reign of the late Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Muhammad IV. The palace was specially built as a wedding gift to HRH Sultan Yahya Petra Ibni Almarhum Sultan Ibrahim (1961-1979) with HRH Tengku Zainab Binti Tengku Muhammad Petra, from his uncle’s father KDYMM Sultan Ismail Ibni Almarhum Sultan Muhammad IV (1920-1944).
